But maybe that is not the only reason. Perhaps people are having NDEs because they are supposed to experience something holy, other-worldly, something spiritually unimaginable that changes their understanding of the nature of the Divine and the purpose of life completely. People who have had NDEs all report profound life-changing transformational experiences, many of them sharing their experiences of encountering their spiritual guides and having a life review in which they learn the cosmic truth that every detail of our lives is recorded. And most of these individuals feel compelled at some point to share their stories with others, hoping that their experiences of encountering life after death, extraordinary love, reunions with loved ones, and extraordinary consciousness will bring inspiration to others, especially those who have come to question the purpose of life itself. I have been familiar with NDEs for decades. Listening to Nancy Rynes share her NDE, I realized that she was truly a messenger. Nancy had been an atheist prior to her NDE (it seems many people who have near-death experiences were non-believers). As she spoke of her encounter with her angelic guide, whom she referred to as her teacher, and the lessons that were imparted to her, I knew she had experienced something worth sharing with others. Clearly, I thought, the wisdom and guidance that Nancy received was meant to be shared.
